Terms & Conditions

Please ensure you read these terms before using our services.

By using our services, you are agreeing to these terms. The latest version always applies, and we’ll usually only make updates when we offer a new service, change how we provide a service, or have to comply with a new legal requirement . You personally will be deemed to be our customer unless it is made clear to us who the customer is and we have confirmation that you have the right to instruct us on their behalf. We reserve the right to refuse or decline to undertake any work. We reserve the right, at our absolute discretion, to designate the tradesperson/tradespeople who will represent us.

By asking us to attend a property you are accepting our terms and conditions terminology.

For the purpose of these terms & conditions the following words have the following meanings: “Us/We/Our” refers to Domestic Plumbing. • “You/Client” refers to you: the customer (the person or organisation for whom we agree to carry out work and/or supply or materials). • “Tradesperson/tradespeople” refers to the representative(s) appointed by us to carry out work.

Minimum Charge

Domestic Plumbing charge £70 Minimum charge within the first hour then £25 each 30mins thereafter. (Not including any parts/materials that may be required). If for any reason we are unable to carry out works during attendance, the fee would still be payable for our attendance, plus the cost of any additional labour time over the first hour, and parts/materials used.

The total invoiced to you will be the sum of the chargeable time spent by our representative attending your premises to undertake the agreed work and the cost of any provided parts plus any parking costs. The time invoiced will include all reasonable time spent in obtaining materials. Parts and materials supplied by us will be charged at the trade price plus 20% markup. You will only be charged for the time spent related to your work. All other time, i.e. lunch breaks is non-chargeable.

Estimates & Fixed Price

Estimates & Fixed Price are inclusive of labour & materials. The estimate is open for acceptance for a period of 30 days providing the works can be commenced within 60 days both periods from the date of estimate and thereafter may be subject to revision or withdrawal.

The Estimate is based on a non-intrusive survey of the property and as such, it is assumed that any existing systems that we connect to are in good condition and in working order. Should we find, during the course of the works, any faults with the existing systems we reserve the right to make a charge for correcting same. Should the client fail to mention any relevant facts relating to the existing installation we reserve the right to make a charge for correcting same. Estimate do not include for any parking fees levied in (CPZ’s). Any such fees incurred will be passed onto the Client at cost.

Any estimate provided by the us may be revised:

  • If, after submission of the estimate, you instruct us (in writing or verbally) to carry out additional work not referred to in the estimate.

  • If, after submission of the estimate, there is an increase in the price of materials.

  • If, after submission of the estimate, it is discovered that further work needs to be carried out which were not anticipated when the estimate was prepared.

  • If, after submission of the estimate, it is discovered that there was a manifest error when the estimate was prepared.

Invoice’s/Payment.

Payment must be made in full upon receipt of the invoice on completion, We accept card (+2.5% Processing fee on card Payments) / cash or bank transfer upon receipt of invoice and it is a condition of acceptance that these be adhered to. Unless otherwise agreed. You accept sole liability to make payment in full, unless you disclose when initially instructing us, to carry out work and/or supply materials that you are acting on behalf of a third party. After one month, unpaid invoices may result in us making a case to the County Court. We will hand over debtors’ details to debt collectors, incurring additional charges.

Materials

Parts and materials supplied by us will be charged at the our trade price plus 20% markup. Time spent in obtaining materials of non-stock items is chargeable, We try to minimise collection of materials by carrying everyday stock items. If we do need to collect materials we will always try to keep the time to a minimum. In the unforeseen circumstances that the collection time is likely to exceed 45 minutes you will receive prior notification of the reason. Goods supplied by us to you, or your premises, shall remain our property until paid for by you in full. Whilst goods remain our property we have the absolute authority to: Retake, Sell or Otherwise deal with or dispose of all or any part of these goods. Enter any premises, at any time and without notice, in which goods or any part thereof is installed, stored or kept, or is reasonably believed so to be.

Cancellation’s

Appointments that need to be cancelled must be notified to us by telephone and, at latest, by the end of our normal office hours (5.00pm M-F) on the working day before the scheduled appointment, or we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee. Cancellations made further in advance should also be by telephone and acknowledgement received from us so that you are not left liable to be charged. If you instruct us to do works or buy materials and then cancel, we reserve the right to charge you for the cost of any time and materials incurred by us.

Timekeeping

Where the date and/or time for work to be carried out is agreed, we will use reasonable endeavour to ensure that the tradesperson attend accordingly. We accept no liability in respect of the nonattendance or late- attendance on site of the tradesperson, or for the late or non-delivery of materials. We will not be liable for any delay, or for the consequences of any delay, in performing any of our obligations if such delay is due to any cause beyond our reasonable control, and we will be entitled to a reasonable extension of the time for performing such obligations.

Guarantee

For your peace of mind, we provide a 12 month guarantee on workmanship carried out by us, in respect of faulty workmanship only. Active from the date of completion of work, in addition to any manufacturer’s warranty/warranties. This guarantee does not extend to existing, installed equipment,pipework or fittings.

The guarantee will become null & void if the work/appliance completed/supplied by us is:

  • Subject to misuse or negligence.

  • Repaired, modified or tampered with by anyone other than a Domestic plumbing tradesperson.

  • We will accept no liability for, or guarantee suitability, materials supplied by you & will accept noliability for any consequential damage or fault. This guarantee does not extend to existing, installed equipment,pipework or fittings.

We will not guarantee any work in respect of:

  • Blockages in waste or drainage systems.

  • Any work undertaken on instruction from you and against the written or verbal advice of the tradesperson.

Work is only guaranteed in respect of work directly undertaken by us and full payment having been made. Any non-related faults arising from recommended work which has not been undertaken by us will not be guaranteed.

Liability

Whilst all reasonable care will be taken during the execution of the works, we accept no liability for any faults, failures or damaging that may occur to existing pipework, fittings, equipment, services like water, electric, gas, internet etc. due to disturbance caused by the proposed works. All due care and attention will be taken but we accept no liability for any loss or damage resulting from damage to the above. We will only be liable for rectifying our own guaranteed work, and will not be held responsible for any ensuing damage or claims resulting from other work overlooked or subsequently requested and not undertaken at the time.

We will not be held liable or responsible for any damage or defect resulting from work not fully guaranteed, or where recommended work has not been carried out.

We shall not be held liable for any delay, or consequences of any delay, in performing our obligations if such a delay is due to any cause beyond our reasonable control and we shall be entitled to reasonable time extensions.

Rubbish & Waste Removal

The customer is responsible for the removal of any/all waste materials resulting from the works carried out. The price specified in the estimate does not include for the removal of any dangerous waste materials such as asbestos found when carrying out the works. This will be subject to an extra charge.

Customer/Clients

  • If the proposed works are being carried out in a leasehold property it is the sole responsibility of the Client to ensure that all necessary permissions have been obtained in writing from the landlords/managing agents. We accept no responsibility whatever for any works carried out without the necessary permissions.

  • It has been assumed that unrestricted access to all relevant parts of the property will be afforded to us during the course of the works. Any delays caused by restricted access not notified at the time of survey may be subject to an extra charge and/or delay in completion.

  • Where other trades are involved in the works and these trades are not under our control any delays that may be caused to our progress by these trades may be subject to an extra charge and/or delay in completion.

  • Unless specified the works will be carried out in one continuous visit. Extra visits at the request of the Client or caused by circumstances beyond our control will be subject to a surcharge and may affect the completion date.

  • It is the responsibility of the Client to ensure that all children and pets are kept away from the areas in which we are working.

  • Any items or materials supplied by the Client or others for our fixing will be unpacked and inspected in the presence of the Client. Any faults found will be pointed out to the Client whose responsibility it will be to obtain replacement items. Any delays caused by faulty or damaged items may be chargeable, may result in us withdrawing from site and may affect the completion date of the works.

General

  • Dismantling, clearing and re-instatement of any fitted cupboards, etc. to permit the proposed works to proceed will be charged at extra cost unless specified.

  • If, during the execution of the proposed works it is necessary to gain access into floors below fitted carpets, these will be lifted by us and laid back on completion. No re-stretching or fixing has been allowed for unless specified. For floors covered with thermoplastic tiles, vinyl sheet covering, cork tiles or laminate flooring, no allowance has been made for reinstatement unless specified.

  • Whilst all holes formed during the execution of the proposed works will be made good on completion, no allowance has been made for re-instatement of decorations. We do not guarantee to match existing brickwork where boiler flue terminals have been removed.

  • No allowance has been made for casing in of pipework or painting/decorating of the new works.

  • During the execution of the proposed works, it may be necessary to isolate various water, gas & electrical services. This will be advised in good time and the period of isolation will be as short as possible.

  • No allowance has been made for out-of-hours working unless specified or to suit our own requirements.

  • Whilst certain items may be specified by name or model, we reserve the option to supply goods of a different manufacture providing they shall be suitable for the purpose intended.

  • Any additional works that the Client requires to be carried out whilst the specified works are being executed will be charged at extra cost. An indication of such cost will be given and the Client’s agreement to same will be obtained before the additional works proceed.

     

     

    Unvented Cylinder Service

    Please make sure that you have the manufacturer’s instructions available for when the engineer attends.

    What is included.

        • A service of your Unvented Hot Water Cylinder completed by a qualified engineer, including: An inspection of the cylinder and its installation pipework, as required by the manufacturer to ensure it is safe and in line with regulations. This includes, where required,

          Checking the operation of the isolation valves, safety relief valves and discharge pipework

          Testing water flow rates and in-line strainer, water temperatures, the function of an immersion heater and operation of the thermostat

          Checking the expansion vessel pressure and recharging if required

          Checking the general condition of the cylinder, and for leaks

          Updating the service record.

     

    What isn’t Included.

        • Any replacement parts or repairs needed to the Unvented Hot Water Cylinder, heating source or heat distribution system (found during a service). Maintenance that is not part of the standard manufacturer’s service, Thermal storage units, Any other heating appliances that are installed as part of the property’s heating system (such as boilers and solar panels – unless stated otherwise within these Terms & Conditions).

     

    We will not be liable for any of the following: a. systems/equipment/appliances that have not been installed, serviced or maintained regularly according to Building Regulations, British Standards and/or manufacturer’s instructions; or that are subject to a manufacturer’s recall.

    Any defect, damage or breakdown caused by malicious or wilful action, negligence, misuse or third party interference, including any attempted repair or modification to the elements which does not comply with Building Regulations and British Standards.

    Any situation where due to health and safety, a specialist person is required, e.g. where asbestos is present.

    The Property must not be a mobile or park home, or a dedicated full time business premises such as: a hotel, multiple room B&B, factory, shop, office building or pub.
